Alweer een handige tool van Google. Natuurlijk zijn er op internet al vele hulpmiddelen beschikbaar om de internetsnelheid te meten. Maar deze tool rekent de behaalde snelheden op basis van bekeken Youtube-video’s in de afgelopen maand. Langere periode, dus toevalstreffers zijn uitgesloten. Zo kun je zien of je er wellicht verstandig aan doet om een betere -snellere!- internetverbinding te nemen. Of een andere ISP.
Waarom is Google bezig met ‘snelheid’? Schoenmaker hou je bij je leest? Nee. Google gaat snelheid steeds belangrijker vinden, en komt met allemaal tools die het leven van de internetbezoeker vergemakkelijken. Conversie is key, tegenwoordig, en met een trage internetverbinding haken veel bezoekers af. Snelheid is tegenwoordig een SEO Ranking factor geworden. Ook knijpen providers de lijntjes regelmatig af. Waarom betalen voor 20Mb als je toch maar 4Mb krijgt? Bepaal je eigen ranking op http://www.youtube.com/my_speed.
