Kort geleden konden veel dienstverleners hun geld nog gemakkelijk verdienen doordat ze simpelweg over informatie beschikten waar hun klanten geen toegang toe hadden. Denk hierbij aan organisaties zoals reisbureaus, makelaars, assurantietussenpersonen en accountants. Doordat alleen zij toegang hadden tot een actuele database konden ze al snel imponeren, zij konden vertellen welke reizen of welke huizen tegen welke prijzen te koop waren.
Om de autoriteit verder te vergroten maakten dienstverleners zoals accountants en assurantietussenpersonen daarbij ook nog gebruik van onbegrijpelijk jargon. Een accountant kon bijvoorbeeld klakkeloos melden dat: “Het financiële belang in niet geconsolideerde entiteiten tegen verkrijgingprijs of de lagere marktwaarde verantwoord is.” Of de schadebehandelaar van uw verzekeraar had het over een “regresschade”. Als u de voorwaarden er vervolgens op nalas bleken deze voor een leek zo goed als onleesbaar. Een onderzoek binnen de verzekeringsbranche toonde aan dat tussenpersonen, naast het opzoeken van deze informatie, ongeveer 70% van hun tijd besteden aan het voeren van hun administratie. Kortom, klanten betalen hun tussenpersonen hoofdzakelijk voor het voeren van administratie en het opzoeken van informatie.
Met de komst van het internet en nieuwe technologie lijkt dat gelukkig een achterhaald principe. De meeste informatie is via internet voor iedereen eenvoudig te vinden en het doen van administratie gebeurt steeds vaker via slimme geautomatiseerde oplossingen.
U vraagt zich wellicht af hoe deze dienstverleners in de toekomst hun geld moeten verdienen. Wat dacht u van het -in begrijpelijke taal- adviseren van klanten en het oplossen van problemen voor klanten die onvoldoende hebben aan de gestandaardiseerde oplossingen van de moderne software? Kortom, terug naar het vakmanschap en de focus op maatwerk voor de klant.
