Doorgeslagen marktwerking?

Iedereen heeft ze wel in zijn of haar omgeving, vrienden, kennissen of familie die werken bij een van de grote mobiele operators. Met bewondering kijk ik naar hun self service portals en de wijze waarop je daar als klant wijzigingen kunt aanbrengen in abonnementsvormen en extra diensten. Ik realiseer me dat de contract management systemen die daarachter schuil gaan zeer complex van aard zijn. Volgens mij het walhalla voor een product manager die kan analyseren en dynamisch nieuwe pakketten kan samenstellen om die vervolgens los te laten op honderd duizenden gebruikers. De algemene indruk is nog steeds dat de operators ‘bakken’ met geld verdienen aan belminuten, sms verkeer en sinds kort ook het internet verkeer. Om maar niet te vergeten de exorbitante roaming tarieven in het buitenland voor data. Die zullen binnnekort ook wel door de EC worden aangepakt.

Mijn vrouw heeft alle zakelijke abonnementen binnen haar bedrijf onder beheer. Tientallen abonnementen waarvan er een 25-tal binnenkort aflopen en verlengd dienen te worden. Signalen en kattebellen gaan binnen de volledig geautomatiseerde CRM systemen af in deze periode en plots staat mijn vrouw in het middelpunt van de belangstelling bij diverse operators en diverse tussenpersonen. Intermediairs die handelen in abonnementen. Waar ze het geld vandaan halen, Joost mag het weten maar de biedingen per abonenmentsverlenging lopen wel op tot zo’n 800 euro! Met een 25-tal abonnementen heb je het plotsklaps over 20.000 euro die voor je in depot wordt gezet waarmee je allerhande aankopen kunt doen. Blijkbaar zijn de ‘kick-backs’ van de operators voor de intermediairs dusdanig waardoor er zulke waanzinnige aanbiedingen kunnen worden gedaan. ‘Dit geld komt in depot bij een stichting waarbij uitsluitend wij als intermediair en u als klant bij kunnen…’ hmmm. De verhalen van dergelijke tussenpersonen die failliet zijn gegaan zijn niet uit de lucht gegrepen overigens, weg depot. Uiteindelijk in contact met een aantal operators en intermediairs en kosten noch moeite worden gespaard om te deal binnen te slepen. Persoonlijke emails die een beroep doen op de fantastische persoonlijke relatie die is opgebouwd en de operators die dwars door het kanaal heen banjeren door zelf een steeds beter aanbod te doen.

Dit zo aan horende riekt dit mijns inziens naar ‘financial engineering’ praktijken waarbij sterk de indruk wordt gewekt dat commissies en bonussen de drijfveer zijn achter het enorme klantvriendelijke gedrag. Het zou mij echt niets verbazen als over enkele jaren blijkt dat er zogenaamde woeker abonnementen zijn afgesloten, doorgesloten en doorgeschoven, geld heen en weer is gepompt van de ene bv naar de andere bv via stichtingen en wat al niet meer om vervolgens onvindbaar te zijn. De kleine letters die bij eenieder anders zijn waarbij vele mitsen en maren hangen aan het te besteden bedrag in het depot. Neen, dit is volgens mij in essentie niet de bedoeling van de diensten die een mobiele operator wil leveren. In mijn optiek een volledig doorgeslagen marktwerking waar verkopers worden gedreven door commissies en er alles voor over hebben deals binnen te trekken. Dat is duidelijk niet wat ik voor ogen heb rondom transparantie en marktgericht denken voor accountants in 2020. Laten we ons dergelijke pratijken besparen.
