Ik ben gek op lipdubs. Nog nooit van gehoord? Een lipdub is een video die lipsynchronisatie en audio dubbing combineert tot een videoclip (definitie: Wikipedia). Een groep mensen wordt gefilmd terwijl ze een liedje meezingen; tijdens de montage voegt men de originele muziek toe. De meest populaire lipdubs worden gefilmd als één lang, continue shot. Vooral in de universitaire wereld wint het fenomeen snel aan populariteit: onder Amerikaanse universiteiten is er zelfs een competitie, waarbij het gaat om het hoogste aantal views op Youtube.

Het gaat echter om meer dan views. Je zou een geslaagde lipdub ook als marketinginstrument in kunnen zetten. Tijdens de opnames stralen deelnemers buitengewoon veel plezier uit, en mensen die plezier hebben ‘verkopen’. Twijfel jij over de juiste universiteit voor je studie, dan zou een goeie film je maar zo eens over de streep kunnen trekken. Toegegeven, dat is niet het belangrijkste argument. Je opereert als groep en voor een mooie lipdub is een flinke ruimte en een aanzienlijk aantal deelnemers nodig: het uiteindelijke product is dus tot stand gekomen door echt samenwerken. Dat is voor veel scholen ook de reden om lipdubs te faciliteren en te financieren. Om even een indruk te geven: die laatste lipdub is in een jaar tijd bijna 7 miljoen keer bekeken op Youtube. Da’s elke dag 18.000 x. Links op websites, blogs, google-indexatie, hoge waardering, etc. Daar kan geen marketingaanpak tegenop. Ben benieuwd welke u het leukste vindt…
